Very few things humans do have been done continuously for four thousand years. Burning frankincense is one of them.
Both frankincense and myrrh are tree resins — hardened sap, harvested by scoring the bark of trees that grow in some of the driest places on earth. They were traded along the same routes as gold, valued as highly, and burned in temples across nearly every ancient civilization that could get hold of them.
We put them in a candle because the scent still does what it always did: it makes a room feel still.
What it smells like
Frankincense brings the top and heart: bright, resinous, faintly citrus and pine-like, with a clean incense character that lifts rather than weighs

Why it's become a customer favorite
It's the scent people burn on purpose. Most candles are ambience. This one gets lit for a reason — meditation, prayer, journaling, the hour after everyone's gone to bed. Customers describe it as ceremonial, and they mean it as the highest compliment.
It's genuinely calming without being sleepy. Where lavender softens you, frankincense settles you. It's a grounded, alert kind of calm. That's why it's the scent we hear about most from people who meditate or practice yoga at home.
It peaks in winter and never really stops. December is its month, obviously. But it's reordered year-round more than any other seasonal-seeming scent we make.

Why we pour it in soy
Resin notes are heavy molecules. In a hot-burning wax they overwhelm — you get a wall of incense with none of the brightness that makes frankincense worth burning in the first place.
Soy's lower melt temperature releases them gradually, which lets frankincense's citrusy top note stay legible over myrrh's dark base. That layering is the entire character of this blend. Burned hot, it flattens into one heavy note. Burned in soy, it breathes.
Our blend is infused with pure essential oils, which for resins is a meaningful difference — synthetic incense accords tend to smell sharp and thin against the real thing.

A note on intensity
This is a deep scent, but it's not a loud one. It doesn't fill a room the way Campfire or Coffee & Whiskey do — it settles into one. That makes it excellent in bedrooms and small quiet rooms where a bolder scent would be too much, and it means large open-plan spaces are better served by the 24oz Prestige.
