Teakwood: The Most Sophisticated Candle in Our Collection

There's a difference between wood as a material and wood as an object. Fresh Cut Wood smells like lumber. Cedar smells like a forest. Teakwood smells like furniture — oiled, warm, well-kept, the kind that gets handed down.

It is, by a comfortable margin, the most grown-up scent we pour.

What Teakwood smells like

Teak is a dense tropical hardwood, prized for centuries for boat decks and fine furniture because it holds natural oil in its grain. That oil is where the scent lives.

  • Top: a soft, dry spice — think black pepper and a hint of citrus peel

  • Heart: the teak itself, warm and smooth with a faint leather note

  • Base: amber and a whisper of tobacco, rich but never sweet

The word customers use most is "expensive." It smells like a hotel lobby you'd want to linger in — not the loud kind, the quiet kind with good chairs and low light.

Why it's a best seller

It reads luxurious without being loud. A lot of "luxury" candles achieve the impression through sheer intensity. Teakwood gets there through complexity — there's a lot happening, but none of it shouts.

It's the gift that makes you look thoughtful. When somebody wants to give a candle that doesn't feel like a default gift, this is it. It works for a boss, a father-in-law, a new colleague, a housewarming where you want to make an impression.

It's genuinely unisex, leaning refined. Where Campfire and Fresh Cut Wood read as outdoorsy-masculine, Teakwood reads as tailored. That opens it up to a much wider audience.

It matches the room. If your home has leather, dark wood, brass, books, or anything mid-century, Teakwood is the olfactory version of your furniture. It's the one people describe as "matching" their space.

Where to burn it

Dining room, before guests arrive. Warm and welcoming, and it won't fight with food the way a citrus or floral will.

Study, library, reading corner. Its natural home. Leather and amber notes make a room feel like it has a history.

Master bedroom. Warm enough for evening, dry enough not to feel heavy.

Entryway of a formal space. First impressions. Teakwood makes a small hallway feel like the front of a larger house.

Pairings

  • Teakwood + Coffee & Whiskey — the most decadent combination in our range

  • Teakwood + Frankincense & Myrrh — deep, ceremonial, extraordinary in winter

  • Teakwood + Cedar — dries it out and makes it more casual

  • Teakwood + Vanilla — softens it toward romantic

The soy wax difference

Teakwood is a complex blend with notes at every level — spice on top, wood in the middle, amber and tobacco at the base. Complexity is exactly what a hot-burning wax destroys, because the light notes flash off before the heavy ones have warmed up.

Soy's lower melt temperature keeps those layers moving together. When you walk into a room with a Teakwood candle burning, you should get spice, wood and amber at once, not one at a time. That's the whole reason we pour it slow and in soy.

Cure time matters here too. Our candles rest after pouring so the fragrance oil binds properly to the wax — a step that mass production skips and that you can absolutely smell.

Care

  • Three-hour first burn to a full melt pool

  • ¼ inch wick trim, every time

  • Four-hour maximum sessions

  • Lid on between burns to protect the top spice notes

  • Retire the candle at half an inch of remaining wax

Choosing your size

8oz Classic — bedside, bathroom, small office

10oz Signature — the default; living room, dining room, bedroom

24oz Prestige — open-plan spaces, high ceilings, and gifting. The three-wick burn on the Prestige gives Teakwood the even, wide melt pool it deserves and roughly doubles the room it can hold.

Who Teakwood is for

Buy it if you want your home to smell like it was decorated on purpose. Buy it as a gift when the recipient already has everything and you need something they'd never buy themselves.

Buy it if you love the idea of a woody candle but find Campfire too rugged and Cedar too plain.

Look elsewhere if you want fresh and bright — Bamboo, Aloe and Ocean Breeze are the other end of our range.

Teakwood is the candle for the version of your home you're working toward.
